Thorvaldsen’s famous breakthrough work from 1803. According to the legend Jason was a prince in the ancient mythology. To become King he had to fetch a golden fleece guarded by a dangerous dragon far away. The sculpture shows him at the proud moment when he succeeds in getting hold of the fleece, and now he has to go home to claim his kingdom.
