Thorvaldsen’s faithful companion wasn’t a living human being – it was his beloved ring, which he wore for more than 20 years right up to his death in 1844. During the time when he wore the ring he was often portrayed in paintings, so to this day you can go in search of the ring in the paintings at the museum.
